City Wide Yard Sales
Each year the VACC sponsors a City Wide Garage Sale.  Typically, it is held on the Saturday before Father's Day in June.  Residents register in advance for the Virden City Wide Garage Sale and then the Chamber picks up the cost of printing large maps-saving the seller from the cost of running a newspaper ad.  The front of the map marks every sale with a number, and on the back is a short listing of the items for sale at the corresponding numbered location. The maps are available for shoppers to pick up at Chamber member businesses around the square a day or two prior to the event.

On any given year, you'll be able to shop for treasures at 30 or more different Garage Sales!  Most of the sales begin on Friday evening from 6-8 PM and then reopen on Saturday morning at 8 AM and continue until 2 PM.  If available, the Goodwill Truck comes to town and parks in front of the First Baptist Church beginning at 1 PM for those who would like to drop off leftover sale items for donation.  Grace Place Clothing distribution center also accepts donations of clothing, bedding, and towels. Donations are also accepted at Hangers of Hope.
The Virden Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the 2024 Virden City Wide Garage Sales are on. Now is the time to register your sale!

The sales will begin on Friday, June 14 from 6-8 PM, though some participants choose to open earlier than that, while others only open on Saturday. They will resume on Saturday, June 15 from 8 AM to 2 PM.

In addition to the City Wide Garage Sales, the organizers of the Annual Fred Britenstine Memorial Car Show/Virden Car Show will also be hosting their 2024 event. It will be held on the square from 8 AM-Noon on Saturday, June 14. Vehicle enthusiasts are encouraged to converge on the Virden Square to share their vehicle, enjoy others, and support community businesses.
