The City of Virden offers parks for a variety of activities including lighted tennis courts and baseball fields and soccer fields. An active baseball and soccer program is on-going for all ages.
In 2022 a group of interested citizens formed the “Virden Parks Initiative.” Click HERE to read more about their efforts to work with city officials and local volunteers to make improvements to the area parks.
In addition to city maintained facilities, Virden has many other outlets for recreation. An area bowling alley provides opportunities for both league and individual bowling and nearby lakes allow for swimming, skiing, boating and fishing only a short distance from the city limits. A golf course is located in Auburn, IL just minutes away from Virden.
